Oliver Medforth is a North Yorkshire businessman, sales executive and contestant on the 2024 Series of The Apprentice. He is the co-founder of drinks producer Raisthorpe Distillery based at Raisthorpe Manor, Wharram near Malton, and has a shop at York Designer Outlet, among others, selling its locally-produced gins and beers, Yorkshire Tonics and a range of other spirits.

Oliver is the sales and operations director of Raisthorpe Manor Fine Foods. Raisthorpe is a family business, launched more than 10 years ago by Julia Medforth at the family farm in Thixendale. It produces Yorkshire Tonics, gin liqueurs, vodkas and dry gin from its own still on the farm.

Raisthorpe has won recognition for its products with 16 Great Taste Awards for its gins and tonics and they started at York Designer Outlet with a pop-up stall and consumer demand encouraged them to expand.

Speaking about his biggest business success to date, Oliver told the BBC: “Running five retail shops for our family run distillery, from Newcastle to Swindon and setting up a soft drink that pairs perfectly with all our range of gins.”

Oliver is not afraid to admit to making mistakes. He added: “I find it’s the best opportunity to learn from them, shows a willingness to try different experiences and not being afraid to be slightly alternative is one of my biggest advantages.”

He graduated from Royal Agricultural University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Food and Agribusiness.

Oliver is a selling machine. He said: “I really hope there is a selling task because this is where I will dominate and prove to Lord Sugar, I am a selling machine. I work the markets selling gin and tonic and there aren’t many customers that leave without buying.”

Sharing why he thinks he deserves Lord Sugar’s investment, Oliver said: “I’m hard working and determined to achieve anything I set a goal to do. I fully enjoy what I do, and this will be applied to Lord Sugar if I manage to get the investment.”
