Maura Rath is an Irish yoga teacher, podcaster and contestant on the BBC’s The Apprentice 2024. She is the founder and owner of Yoga with Maura, a yoga company rooted in the promotion of her clients’ well-being. She is best known for her hosting of retreats and specialised yoga events throughout the country.
Maura found yoga in 2011 shortly after leaving Ireland. She was working a high-pressure corporate job and running in her free time to keep fit. She found it hard to balance her work, life and health and dropped into her first yoga class “just for a stretch” to relieve tightness from her running.
Maura was soon hooked and realised the immense value this was having in her life and was driven to share it with others. She travelled to the birthplace of yoga – India – to train under some of the best yoga teachers around the world at Sampoorna Yoga School.
When asked for her biggest business success to date, she told the BBC: “I hear back that my business brings some people a little bubble of self-love, it helps some people with that winter dread, and people move stronger and more freely than before.”
Speaking about her biggest business fail, she said: “My biggest lesson was buying into the hype and the sales pitch of a custom app, which was an expensive experiment and wasn’t the best experience for me or my customers. All this learning was poured into my new mobile-friendly website, which is working great!”
The Dublin-based yoga teacher is the host of ‘The Maura Rath Podcast’.

A native of Killenagh near Gorey, Co Wexford, Maura Rath is taking part in BBC’s The Apprentice 2024. The series sees the hopeful business candidates battle it out for the opportunity of a lifetime for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment and mentorship.
Sharing why she thinks she deserves Lord Sugar’s investment, Maura said: “I believe I deserve Lord Sugar’s investment because my business promotes positivity and well-being, in a profitable and scalable way, with five income streams.”
In a post shared on Instagram, Maura confirmed the news as excitement kicked off in her home county for the series opener.
“Finally the hardest kept secret is out! I am a candidate on this years Apprentice, yes me yogi Maura,” she said.
“The business side of yoga has always fascinated me. I have big plans to make Yoga with Maura a household name, which is why I’m going for investment from Lord Sugar.
“This has been my hardest business journey to date, testing me emotionally and physically. It’s been an absolute rollercoaster and I can’t believe on February 1st episode 1 will be out! Yes St Brigid’s day which I think is a good sign for an Irish woman.
“As my yogis know my daily practice is everything to me, and when that was taken from me (I couldn’t practice while in there) it really took its toll.
“I can’t wait to share this journey with you all…that’s if I don’t get fired after task 1.”
