Jackie Talmey-Lennon is a Canadian potter and contestant on The Great Canadian Pottery Throwdown 2024. She lives in Vancouver, B.C. and has worked in pottery for a decade, both as a wheel-throwing instructor and as a studio technician.

After taking a pottery class at a studio in Vancouver, she was immediately hooked and went on to graduate from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Jackie also sculpted for her brother’s stop-motion film.

Jackie started making pottery in 2003 at Emily Carr. She told CBC: “I took a ceramics class in the same room that is now the TGCPTD studio. I found it so intimidating, I gave up right away. I would eventually drop out of school altogether.

“Ten years later, I was walking on the seawall with my dad when we passed a studio advertising pottery classes. I casually remarked that it was something I wished I could do and then I carried on walking. An embarrassing amount of time later, I discovered that I was talking to myself in public. My dad was gone. When I found him, he was inside the studio paying for my first wheel throwing class.”

Describing her pottery style in three words, she said: “Colourful, detailed and mine”.
