Vicki Vivacious Biography – Vicki Vivacious Wiki

Vicki Vivacious, real name Aaron Johns, is a drag performer and contestant on the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. The Cornwall, who uses the pronouns she/her in drag and he/him out of drag, is a member of the Fabulettes! on London Live’s Drag Queens of London.

Born at Royal Cornwall Hospital at Truro, Aaron was brought up and raised in Redruth and attended Redruth School as a young lad. It was his love of cabaret and West End Shows from a young age that led him to want to perform on stage and later become a drag act.

The 36-year-old told Cornwall Live: “My parents and grandparents, who are all Cornish through and through going back generations, have been so supportive throughout my life. [I] must have been eight when my mum and stepdad took me to see The Phantom of the Opera. I was hooked and mesmerised by the production and the costumes. I can remember it being so glittery. After that, I wanted to move away and become a performer.

“My parents and grandparents have always supported me and they took me to the theatre. I took extra dance and arts lessons. I was part of the drama and performance club at school.”

It was after working on the West End production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert a decade or so ago that Aaron thought of becoming a drag queen full time. “When the show finished I wanted to continue but I didn’t quite know what avenue to take. I told my parents I wanted to be a drag artist and they thought I was crazy at first. But as usual they were immensely supportive.”

Vicki has worked with Little Mix, toured with Dannii Minogue, performed in the West End show, “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”, and also been in a girl band. She auditioned for the seventh series of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2013 and appeared on Drag Queens of London in 2014.

Vicki Vivacious Drag Name Origin

In an interview with Dragaholic, the Drag Queens of London star explained the origin of her drag name “Vicki Vivacious”. She said: “It’s crazy but I remember where I was and who I was with when choosing my drag name, I was sat in Balans cafe with my best friend Rob! At the time I had an extreme fascination with The Beckhams and loved Victoria, so I decided Vicki we then sat for hours deciding a second name scribbling ideas on to a pad. After £££££’s worth of coffee we decided on Vivacious. I loved it and I loved the double V so it stuck, she was born!”

Aaron Johns Partner

Aaron Johns is gay and will be getting married to Irishman Rory in 2024, and, by his own admission, it’s going to be a tough call between a wedding in Cornwall or in Ireland. “We’re still bickering about this,” he joked.

He added: “It is difficult growing up gay anywhere, not just in Cornwall. It can be tough in Cornwall and you’re more likely to see other LGBTQ people in big cities. That’s why so many people in the LGBTQ community move away and leave Cornwall. But there certainly is a strong community in Cornwall. Cornwall Pride is amazing and they produce this fantastic Pride every year and are there for each other and to support each other. I feel welcome back every time I’m in Cornwall. I love them.”
