Val T. Webb previously Valerie T. Smith is a gospel and Christian artist from Birmingham, Alabama. She contests in season 25 of the American singing show, The Voice.

The singer joining The Vice auditions is fulfilling a promise to her son, Joshua. Joshua has been a passionate fan of “The Voice” and has long believed in his mother’s star quality.

Val has had an impressive career, providing vocal direction and background vocals for renowned gospel and mainstream music artists. Her musical journey began in church at a young age. By the time she was a teenager, she was part of a girl group, had learned to play piano, and was leading songs in church. That led her to pursue music at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Her first solo — “I’m Glad You Got Here” — was recorded with the University of Alabama at Birmingham gospel choir while attending school there.

In addition to her work as a background vocalist, Val released her first gospel single in 2011 and independently launched her album “Dream” in 2016, which reached No. 18 on the Gospel Albums Billboard Chart.

In 2020, Val was featured in a PBS film called “Dreams of Hope” about a historic concert at a Birmingham church, held 50 years after a hate crime in which four black girls were killed.

A highlight of her career was performing at the World Games’ opening and closing ceremonies in 2022, where her rendition of “We Shall Overcome” reached millions worldwide.

Val has also performed and directed background vocals for several artists, including Yolanda Adams, India Arie, Robin Thicke, LeAnn Rimes, and former American Idol runner-up Bo Bice.

She has also started teaching an online course for independent musicians called “Indie Is My Major.”

Val T. Webb, 43, strong opening prompted a quick chair turn from John. Chance soon followed. An impressive glory note earned her chair turns from Dan + Shay and Reba as well. That made her the eighth and final 4-chair turn singer of Season 25.

The coaches rewarded her with a standing ovation. John complimented her on her poise and grace. Shay called her a star. Dan called it one of the best performances the coaches have seen. Chance said she made the song her own. Reba said she loved the performance as well.
