Tim Medhurst is an antique dealer, coin specialist, auctioneer, valuer, antiques expert and television presenter. He is a regular on BBC’s Antiques Road Trip and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. Along with TV and Radio work, Tim occasionally contributes to magazines and articles.
Tim formed a passion for coins, antiquities and antiques from a young age. At the age of 9, Tim’s grandmother showed him a Victorian Crown coin she kept in a little music box, from then on he was hooked! He has developed a fascination and interest which has sculpted a career path.
Tim is the owner of Timothy Medhurst Coins and Antiquities Ltd, specialising In Coins and Antiquities, Consultancy and Freelance Auctioneering In Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire and Countrywide. With over ten years of experience as an auctioneer, he offers auctioneering and consultation services for Charity Events, Fine Art and Antique, and General Auctions. He has overseen and conducted Specialist Auctions from Fine Art and Antique, Country House and General Auctions, along with many other Charity Events.
Tim has previously worked for two leading auction houses for almost ten years. He was an auctioneer and valuer at Duke’s Auctioneers of Dorset and head of the Coins and Medals department at Duke’s. Amongst his varied duties as a general valuer for Duke’s, he oversaw the European and English Ceramics department.
Prior to joining Duke’s, Tim was a coin specialist, auctioneer and valuer at Reeman Dansie in Colchester for over six years.
In 2013 Tim won the Young Guns Award as the leading Young Gun of the antiques trade during the 2013 National Antiques Week at the Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair in Battersea. Tim was the youngest on the shortlist of 12 finalists and impressed the judges with his determination to bring a new vigour to a field that is often seen as old and stuffy.
More recently he has been involved in vetting major Antique Fairs as well as being a panellist at the prestigious Art Business Conference 2017.
Tim is a member of the British Numismatic Trade Association (BNTA), holding the reputation of the highest importance.
