Taylor Ceepo was a soccer player and graduate of Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. She died after she collapsed during the final leg of the Cleveland Marathon on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
Taylor attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from Walsh University in 2019, with a biology – pre professional major, and minors in both psychology and chemistry.
As a soccer player, Ceepo played for Medina’s International Soccer Club from age 8 until 18. Her team won four State Cup Championships and came in fourth during the National tournament.
She started all four years of her high school career at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. For her college career, Ceepo played midfield at Walsh University and wore jersey number 19.

Taylor Ceepo Death – Cleveland Marathon Tragedy
Taylor Ceepo died after she collapsed during the final leg of the Cleveland Marathon on Sunday, May 19, 2019. Ceepo had nearly completed the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon when she collapsed about a mile from the finish line. She was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
The Cleveland Marathon tweeted, “We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of the young woman who collapsed during the race this morning. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to her family and friends at this time.”

Ceepo’s alma mater, Walsh University, issued a statement offering condolences to her family and friends of the recent graduate.
“Walsh University was deeply saddened to learn of the passing today of Taylor Ceepo, a member of the Class of 2019, who passed away after participating in the Cleveland Marathon this morning. We ask that the Walsh community pray for the family of Taylor and that God offer healing hands to all those who are mourning her loss. Our prayers are with you all during this very difficult time.”
St. Vincent-St. Mary High School wrote on Facebook, “On behalf of the St. Vincent-St. Mary community, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the parents, family and friends of Taylor Ceepo VM15. Taylor passed away today after she collapsed while running the Cleveland Marathon. We pray that all may find some solace in God’s grace, and support through Taylor’s extended STVM family.”
