Shanshan Feng is a Chinese professional golfer. She competes on the United States-based LPGA Tour. Feng joined the LPGA Tour in 2008, becoming the first player from China to be a member of the LPGA Tour. Feng was born in Guangzhou, in the province of Guangdong, China. She started playing golf at age 10. When she was 17 years old, Gilchrist offered her a full scholarship to attend his junior golf academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina, thus moving to the United States.
Feng won several events on the amateur career, such as the China Junior Championship and the China Junior Open in 2004, she was a three-time winner of the China Amateur Tournament in 2004 and 2006, the Champion of the 2006 China Women’s Amateur Open. She was a member of the 2006 All-China Championship Team, she won medalist honors at the event. In 2007 Feng was named Golfweek’s Top Chinese Amateur after winning four tournaments on the International Junior Golf Tour (IIGT) in 2007.
Feng turned professional 2007, she has 10 victories on the LPGA tour, including the 2012 LPGA Championship. Her best finish in 16 previous majors was a tie for 22nd at the 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship.
On 20 August 2016, Feng won the Olympic bronze medal in women’s golf at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Since November 2017 to April 2018, she was first in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
