Oliver ‘Oli’ Milne, born Oliver James Milne, is a carpenter, furniture designer and graphic designer. Oli has been making furniture for over 10 years after founding the furniture design company Forge Creative with childhood friend Josh Kennard.

Oli and Josh have worked on many exciting projects over the years such as a giant log table for the National Trust Glencoe Visitor Centre and a bespoke ping pong table for Peletons London office. They have also had great success with their brand – The Arboretum and their popular wooden tree ornaments.

Oli stepped down as a director of Forge Creative to pursue his vision for Hew but still spends part of his time working together with Josh on various projects. Hew was established after founder Oli was moved to create pieces which are recognised for their sustainability, quality, and original design. He is an advocate for buying higher quality goods that last longer, resulting in less waste.

With Hew, Oli combines well-established woodwork techniques with contemporary design to create furniture and homewares which last a lifetime and beyond.

Oli studied 3D design at college and then communication design at uni which landed him a job as a graphic designer. A need for change led discovery of woodwork.

“After doing this for a while, it reached a point where I wasn’t really getting to be creative,” Oli told The Design Sheppard. “At first, I thought I should find another graphic design job at a more exciting studio but then I thought what if there’s something else I could be doing.” He and Josh met up and over a pint and after a bit of a chat, the seed of Forge Creative was planted.
