NKY is a civil servant and a contestant on MasterChef UK 2023. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, she moved to the UK 24 years ago and lives in Aberdeen with her husband and three children.
How would you describe your style of cooking?
“I’ve had the privilege of living all over the world, including Paris, Egypt, Spain and Angola and this has massively inspired by food. Always at its heart is authentic Nigerian cuisine; spicy, wholesome, homemade and cooked with love.”
What is your earliest cooking memory?
“I remember really getting the food bug when I was 13 years old home from boarding school on school holidays. I would come home and cook non-stop with my mother and all my friends would come over to be fed.”
Why did you enter MasterChef?
“To challenge myself and to experience diverse food, there are recipes I’ve cooked for years but that doesn’t mean I’m not open to trying new ways of doing things. I want to learn.”
What is your food dream?
“My dream is to have a charitable food foundation that renders services all over the world to help and create job opportunities for the less privileged. Sharing my love and recipes through cookbooks and teaching others is also a dream.”
