Musa Motha is a South African amputee dancer, choreographer and finalist in Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2023. Born and raised in Sebokeng, south of Johannesburg, South Africa, Musa started as a street dancer in 2010. He quickly gained recognition and appeared in music videos, including Drake’s “One Dance.”

In 2018, he decided to start a professional dance career and joined Vuyani Dance Theatre in Newtown, Johannesburg, South Africa, where he honed his skills in contemporary, afro fusion, tap dance, and ballet.

Musa started touring internationally in 2019. His talent has earned him features in fashion and art magazines, international newspapers, and TV interviews.

He is also a motivational speaker, entrepreneur, DJ, photographer, videographer, dog trainer, car modifier, and investor. Fluent in multiple languages, including Sotho, Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, and English, Musa aims to inspire others with disabilities and break down social stereotypes.

Musa moved to London in February 2022. He is currently a member of Arsenal Amputee Football club and part of the Peaky Blinders theatre dance show.

Musa Motha’s mother, Ntokozo Matale, told the Sunday Times ahead of the finale: “I feel God is great. When Musa was sick, I was devastated. God has so many ways of showing his love to us. Musa was a strong boy through his illness and losing his leg.

“He has managed to get to where he is right now because of his belief. He is brave, confident and loves people. For as long as I know my son, he always gets what he wants. He is a go-getter and I am so proud of him.”

The proud mother had to muster strength to support him through his illness. “Now he is fine, he got through the worst. I so wish God gives him many more blessings to be well-known worldwide. In fact, I’m speechless — [his leg] was amputated at the age of eight, now he is 27. All these years he has been chasing his dreams.

“Musa dreams big and I know God will give him strength tonight. He is giving his best, I’m sure he is going to make it.”

Musa Motha Britain’s Got Talent

South African-born dancer Musa Motha is a finalist in the sixteenth series of Britain’s Got Talent. In his audition (May 27), he performed an awe-inspiring routine to Runnin’ (Lose It All) by Naughty Boy featuring Beyoncé.

When his routine concluded the South African native, who now resides in London, was met with a huge round of applause from the audience before they began to chant ‘golden buzzer’ at the judges, with the foursome responding that there was ‘none left’. But suddenly judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli collectively pushed the golden buzzer, putting him through to the live semi-finals of the show.

His semi-final routine saw him perform to Where We Come Alive by Ruelle, initially dancing alone and using one crutch, before being joined by backing dancers and finishing using both crutches.

His performance again impressed the judges and fans, securing a spot in the finale, where 10 finalists will compete. He is joined in the final by Amy Lou, Viggo Venn, Olivia Lynes, Uganda’s Ghetto Kids, Travis George, Malakai Bayoh, Duo Odyssey, Cillian O’Connor and Lillianna Clifton.
