Kerry Roper Biography – Kerry Roper Wiki

Kerry Roper is the Executive Chef at Stix and Stones steak and seafood restaurant in Belfast city centre. She has had the privilege to work with, and learn a lot from, Michelin starred chef Danni Barry.

Born in London, Kerry moved to Northern Ireland as a student and never left. She trained at various fine dining restaurants before moving to Sticks and Stones in Belfast. She said: “I started in kitchen’s when I was a student. I just got roped in to cover somebody’s holiday actually, originally I’ve never left. I decided to stay in Belfast because I think the food scenes definitely up and coming. My cooking style is definitely still evolving. I’m still learning.”

Chef Kerry Roper is set to compete in Series 18 of The Great British Menu as she battles it out for the chance to represent Northern Ireland at the show’s prestigious final banquet. Her dishes take inspiration from Northern Irish illustrator Oliver Jeffers and his illustrations in ‘The Day the Crayons Quit.’

Chef Kerry said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to compete in this prestigious competition. This year’s theme of British animation is very exciting. It has given me the perfect platform to showcase my culinary creations.

“It would be a tremendous achievement to make the banquet, but I have my work cut out for me. Going up against the extremely talented Gemma Austin, John Hollywood, and Matt Jordan is no easy task, and we will all be at our very best as we try to impress the judging panel to earn that coveted spot in the finale.”

Kerry was born in London, but couldn’t imagine representing any other region. Having lived and loved Northern Ireland for the past 12 years, she sees it as the only place she calls home.

She will be competing against Gemma Austin, Chef Patron at A Peculiar Tea, John Hollywood, Freelance and Development Chef, and Matt Jordan, Head Chef at SHU Restaurant.
