Kathryn Cooke is the daughter of longtime WSFB-TV news anchor Denise D’Ascenzo. According to Kathryn Cooke’s Facebook page, she graduated from Branford High School in 2011. She is a Student Research Assistant at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University and Outreach and Communications Intern at Cornell Lab of Ornithology. She is studying Environmental and Sustainability Sciences at Cornell University.

Kathryn Cooke’s parents are Denise D’Ascenzo and Wayne Cooke. D’Ascenzo announced that she was pregnant with her daughter Kathryn on air. She said at the time, “I have some personal news that I’m going to share with you. I’m going to have a baby.” During the announcement, the station played the sound of a baby crying.
In March 2019, D’Ascenzo shared pictures of her daughter Kathryn Cooke on Facebook. She wrote, “Hi, friends! March Madness is underway! I am rooting tonight for my alma mater, Syracuse University!
