Gillie Ford is a contestant on The Great British Sewing Bee 2023 and a retired secretary and HR manager. She lives in Nottingham, and is a huge fan of Nottingham Forest Football Club, where her father was once the chairman.

Although she was born in Nottingham, Gillie went to school in Dorset from the age of 10. She started sewing at the age of seven after her mother taught her how to thread a needle.

According to the BBC, Gillie attended the Sorbonne in Paris to study French, and had a Saturday job at a fashion house where she folded, modelled and sold silk scarves.

French fashion is a huge influence on her, and she adores elegant designer clothing. Her sewing style takes inspiration from Coco Chanel, and Yves St Laurent. She has made menswear too, such as waistcoats and other garments for her husband and sons.

Apart from attending Nottingham Forest matches, Gillie also spends her time playing bridge or tennis with her friends.
