Brian Curtis Biography – Brian Curtis Wiki

Brian Curtis is a journalist who co-anchors NBC 5 News at 6 p.m. & 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. He has 25 years of experience in local television news. He is a multiple Lone Star Emmy Award winner, and the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters has honored him several times as the best news anchor in Texas.

Among the major news stories that he has covered for NBC5 are the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, the tornado outbreak of 2012, and the loss of Space Shuttle Columbia. He also was one of the panelists for the 2014 Texas gubernatorial debates. He has also covered the Olympics in Pyeongchang, Rio, London, Beijing, Torino, and Athens, as well as the Super Bowl and the World Series. He is passionate about NBC5’s “Clear The Shelters” project, which finds homes for animals in DFW-area shelters.

He began working with NBC 5 as a general assignment reporter in the year 2003 and worked his way up to the anchor desk. His path to DFW began at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri, then passed through television stations in Battle Creek, Grand Rapids, Birmingham, and Kansas City.

He has a Master of Arts degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Emory University. He is also a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut. He grew up in Connecticut and Rhode Island but got to North Texas as fast as possible. North Texas is now home for him.
