Tumi Tladi (real name Itumeleng George Tladi) was a South African rapper, singer, songwriter, videographer and dancer. Tladi started dancing at the age of 11. He trained as a dancer at Danceweb. His big break in the entertainment industry was in 2012, when he shot a music video as a dancer in Los Angeles for American actor and singer Will Smith and actress Jada Pinkett Smith’s children Willow and Jaden Smith.
In 2014, Tladi released his first song alongside rapper and dancer Costa Titch, titled Punchline. In 2020, Tladi released his six-track EP titled Excuse Me For Being Me. South African artist Tumi Tladi died on 10th July 2022 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The family of the South African hip hop musician, real name Itumeleng George Tladi, confirmed his death in a statement to Channel24.
“Known by his stage name Tumi Tladi, he was deeply loved by his family, friends, and the entertainment industry as a whole,” read the statement.
“Son, brother, and uncle, Tumi Tladi (30) sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning (10th July 2022) in Johannesburg. He leaves behind his parents, five siblings, his niece, and nephews.”
The Tladi family humbly requested privacy while grieving but asked fans to keep them in their prayers. Funeral details for the rapper will be confirmed at a later stage.
Prior to his death, Tladi shared two tweets, speaking about the importance of appreciating your loved ones. “You only Truly appreciate your loved ones when there’s a countdown, the small things don’t matter anymore,” he tweeted.
“Love like they are leaving tomorrow,” he added in a second tweet.
