Trevor Cone Biography – Trevor Cone Wiki

Trevor Cone is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He turned professional in 2015. He has two Korn Ferry Tour Victories: the 2018 Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae and the 2022 AdventHealth Championship.

The former Virginia Tech player was a two-time All-American at Virginia Tech earning Third Team honors in 2014 and Honorable Mention honors in 2015 while also becoming the program’s first individual ACC Men’s Golf champion in 2015.

He finished his career with three victories plus 20 top 10 finishes while forming an impressive duo with Scott Vincent. He also was ranked second all-time for lowest scoring average behind only Vincent after his career with the Hokies. Cone graduated in 2015 with a degree in marketing from the Pamplin College of Business.

He twice fell short of earning his PGA card at the PGA’s Qualifying School after graduating from Virginia Tech. He then spent two years competing on PGA Tour Canada (2016-17) while waiting for an opportunity to compete on the Korn Ferry Tour.

In 2018, while playing on the Korn Ferry Tour under conditional status, Cone came close to a PGA Tour card after picking up a win late in the regular season at the Ellie Mae Classic held at TPC Stonebrae in Hayward, California but a lack of starts prevented him from finishing high enough in the standings to earn his card. But from 2019-21, he missed 39 cuts in 60 starts and registered just one top-10 finish.

In 2022, Cone earned his PGA Tour card for the 2022-23 season. He finished 22nd in the regular season portion of the Korn Ferry Tour standings with a T34 finish at The Pinnacle Bank Championship in Nebraska sealing the deal for his card.

Cone made his PGA Tour debut on Sept. 15, 2022, at the Fortinet Championship held in Napa, California. He became just the fourth Virginia Tech player ever to play on the PGA Tour, joining Johnson Wagner, Brendon de Jonge, and Tim Collins Jr.

As a PGA Tour rookie, Cone took the third-round lead of the Barbasol Championship after he shot a nine-under-par 63. Cone had a 17-under 199 total for a one-stroke advantage over Lucas Glover and Vincent Norrman in the event co-sanctioned by the European tour. Cone had a bogey-free round, taking him to 17-under-par and one stroke ahead of Glover at Keene Trace.
