Stephanie Connell is a British specialist in antiques and one of the UK’s leading consultants in Art and Antiques. She is the Patron for Stamp Active. She is popularly known as one of the antique and collectibles specialists on the popular BBC series, “The Antique Roadshow”, “Bargain Hunt” and in Series 18 and 19 of the “Antiques Road Trip”. She has over 12 years of experience within the fine art industry and now has her own retail business in Surrey. Her interest in collectibles began with stamps… “Antiques and history have been a passion of mine since childhood. I started collecting stamps aged 9 or 10 and dragged my parents to antique shops to help me find more. Once I saw all the other things you could buy that was interesting, that was it!”

She added “Stamps create a window into the world of people, places and history and much more. They have inspired me to look at lots of different things and led me into a career that has brought nothing but pleasure into my life and lots of fun.”

She has worked within the fine art auction industry for over 12 years. From 2006 to 2014 she was employed with Bonhams Auctioneers – one of the world’s leading auction houses. As the former Director of their Collectors sales and Head of the Entertainment Memorabilia department, highlights from her career include the Eric Clapton Sale of Guitars & Amplifiers; Doctor Who – The Auction on behalf of the BBC; the sale of George Harrison’s family archive; auctions in conjunction with Turner Classic Movies (including the record-breaking sale of the original Maltese Falcon statue for over $3.4 million) and the sale of Jackie Kennedy’s pearls. In addition to that, she worked on the Bonhams October 2015 sale of the estate of the late Lord Richard Attenborough, and with the late Sir Christopher Lee for the sale of his Lord of the Rings collection.

She has a Master’s Degree in Fine Art Valuation and attended the Manchester Metropolitan University from 1998 to 2001 acquiring a Bachelors Degree in the History of Art and Design (including Film History). She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Interior Design. She was also a student at Cockermouth School which is located in Cockermouth, a town in Cumbria.
