Shawn Sounds is an American singer- songwriter from Houston, Texas and a contestant on season 16 of The Voice on NBC. He teaches middle school in the Aldine area and is known as the singing business education teacher.
Shawn Sounds’s bio on NBC for the reality TV competition series “The Voice” reads, “Shawn grew up around music and was enrolled in college-level classes for vocal performance, theater and dance by the time he was in fourth grade. In high school, his family moved to Florida, where he joined a community choir that traveled the state singing with artists such as Barry Manilow. After graduating college, Shawn took a break from music to focus on his career in teaching. He currently teaches middle school and loves singing and playing music for the kids. Recently, a video of him singing to his class went viral after piquing Snoop Dogg’s interest.”
Shawn has toured with famed jazzman, Jarrod Lawson, with R&B crooners, H-Town, and as one-third of the soul group, Six Minutes ‘til Sunrise.
He’s part of an R&B trio called Six Minutes ‘Til Sunrise that released a 13-song album called “Time of Our Lives” in October 2017. The other members of Six Minutes ‘Til Sunrise are Tanika Keys and Ron Johnson.
