Sarah Harding Biography – Sarah Harding Wiki

Sarah Nicole Harding was an English singer, model, and actress. She rose to fame in 2002 as a contestant on the ITV reality series Popstars: The Rivals, the programme that would see her joining Girls Aloud alongside Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, and Cheryl Cole (then Tweedy). She was the last contestant on Popstars: The Rivals to be selected for the band.

Girls Aloud are Britain’s biggest-selling girl group of the 21st Century, selling 4.3 million singles and four million albums. The girl band released five studio albums, all of which reached platinum sales. They scored 21 UK top 10 singles between 2002-2012, including four number ones – I’ll Stand By You, Walk This Way (with Sugababes) and The Promise, as well as Sound Of The Underground. The group went on to have several UK hits, including Sound of the Underground, The Promise, Love Machine, Jump and Call The Shots.

In 2009, they were picked – alongside Jay-Z – to support Coldplay at Wembley. Girls Aloud reunited in 2012 after a short hiatus, to release and tour a greatest hits album. They announced their split in 2013.

Harding then took on several acting roles, including appearances in Run for Your Wife, and St. Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold. She appeared on the Channel 4 reality show The Jump in 2016, but was forced to pull out after suffering a knee injury. In 2017, she won Celebrity Big Brother.

She left Hazel Grove high school without taking her GCSEs. The intention was to become a singer, to which end she studied performing arts at North Cheshire Theatre College. To pay the bills, she got an NVQ in hair and beauty.

Gigs with a local band and as a solo performer were getting her nowhere; trying to “get some profile”, she sent a topless picture to FHM magazine’s High Street Honeys competition, and made the final 100. As it turned out, she did not need the boost. Months later, having auditioned for both the Fame Academy talent show and Popstars: The Rivals, she was picked by the latter.

In March 2021, she released her autobiography, Hear Me Out, explaining that she had decided to go public about her illness to potentially help others who might be worried about seeing a doctor, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There had been so much reporting on the news about people missing out on check-ups during COVID lockdown, even though they might be worried about something,” she said in the book.

“People who had left a cancer diagnosis until it might be too late. Maybe if I spoke out, as a public figure, a celebrity, it could help get the message across how important it is to get checked out if you have concerns.

“As scary as it was to go public about my diagnosis, it was the right thing to do, and the amount of support I’ve received is incredible. I’ve been inundated with lovely messages from my fans. I’m grateful beyond words for that.”

It might seem odd to worry about not having children when I don’t even know how much of a life I have left, but it’s there. The truth is, even if my prognosis was better, it still wouldn’t be on the cards because of all the chemotherapy I’ve had.
