Sarah Amess Biography – Sarah Amess Wiki
Sarah Amess is the daughter of Sir David Amess, Conservative MP for Southend, who was stabbed to death in a knife attack at a constituency surgery on October 15.
In August 2007, Sarah Amess pleaded guilty to drink-driving and failing to report an accident. She pleaded guilty at her first appearance at Southend Magistrates’ Court. She was banned from driving for 16 months after admitting drink-driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident, all on August 6, in Leigh.
Simon Samuels, representing Amess, said: “When she reversed back into the car she did stop her car to ask her boyfriend what she should do. If she had gone back to her parents, they would have advised her to report it to police.
“If the police had not turned up at that point, the family would have arranged for her to report it to the police. She now understands the procedures involved.”
Sarah was fined £150 for the drink-drive offence and £50 for the failure to stop. She was also ordered to pay legal costs of £60, plus an extra £15 to cover court witnesses’ costs.
Passing sentence, chairman of the magistrates’ bench Christine Robinson said: “We are satisfied it was a relatively minor accident, but these are still serious offences. We have taken into account your early guilty plea.”
