David Amess Jnr is the son of Sir David Amess, former Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) for Southend West. A member of the Conservative Party, Sir David Amess served as MP for Basildon from 1983 to 1997 and for Southend West from 1997 to 2021.

Sir David Amess Son Jailed

Sir David Amess’ son David Amess Jnr was found guilty of smashing a man over the head with a champagne bottle after an argument at a nightclub. David lashed out with the bottle at Paul Trussler after he trod on his foot. He was at the Talk Club in Southend, Essex, with a group of friends, and had been trying to impress a woman when the fight broke out in the early hours of May 14. He swung the bottle after some pushing and shoving between the two men, and Trussler suffered a 4cm cut that required a number of staples.

David Amess Jnr was jailed four years after being found guilty of smashing a plumber over the head with a champagne-style bottle during an argument at a nightclub. Later, he won a cut in his prison sentence from four years to three. After the hearing, a statement from the Amess family said: “Some progress has been made in our endeavour to clear our son’s name and to secure justice for him.That we intend to pursue with renewed vigour.”
