Robert Finley is a 65-year-old Vietnam War veteran and singer. As a child, Robert grew up singing in a church choir. At 10 years old, he bought his first guitar and got hooked on blues, soul, and R&B music.
At 18, he joined the military and served in the Vietnam War. After the war ended, he got married, had kids, and took up carpentry.
Years later though, Robert got divorced and lost his house and trailer to a fire. Then, at 60 years old, he started going blind due to glaucoma, which resulted in him losing his job.
While belting out a few tunes on a street one day, Timothy Duffy, founder of Music Maker Relief Foundation, an organization that helps aging and struggling musicians, noticed the singer’s incredible gift. Loving Robert’s style, Timothy helped him secure a record deal. And so, in 2016, Robert released his debut album Age Don’t Mean a Thing. He has since worked on music with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and released a second album entitled Goin’ Platinum.
