Ricki-Lee Coulter is a New Zealand-born Australian singer, songwriter, television, and radio presenter. Ricki-Lee began performing at the age of 15. She rose to fame in 2004 on the second season of Australian Idol and placed seventh in the competition. She subsequently signed with Australian independent label Shock Records, and released her self-titled debut album Ricki-Lee (2005), which produced the top-ten hits “Hell No!” and “Sunshine”. Both singles were certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). When Ricki-Lee was about nine years old, her mum met John – the man who Ricki-Lee now calls dad. She told The Age: “When this guy came in, I was like, “Who are you? You’re on my turf now.” He won me over because he’d take me in the car and drive me to Dreamworld on the weekend. He’s a bit of a kid at heart, so we’d run around and get on the rides and we’d go home and watch The Simpsons.

We’re so close, you know. He is my dad. He’s the man who sat there and did my homework with me, who I got in trouble from when I did the wrong thing. He’s the man who made sure I was focusing on the right things in life, my education.

“So I’ve had two amazing dads: Poppa Rock and John. I don’t feel like I’ve lacked in father figures at all.”
