Nicolai Hojgaard Biography – Nicolai Hojgaard Wiki

Nicolai Hojgaard is a Danish professional golfer. He turned professional in 2019 and has won twice on the European Tour. He won at the 2021 DS Automobiles Italian Open and at the 2022 Ras Al Khaimah Championship.

On Sunday, 5 September 2021, Nicolai contributed to a historic double on the European Tour as he won his first title at the DS Automobiles Italian Open, the week after his identical twin brother Rasmus was victorious at the Omega European Masters. The Højgaards became the first brothers to win in back-to-back weeks on the European Tour.

Nicolai sealed victory in Rome with a birdie to win by one shot from England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Poland’s Adrian Meronk. He finished on 13 under after carding a level-par 71 in his final round.

“It means a lot. I’ve been grinding for a long time and seeing Rasmus win three times made me want to do it even more,” said Nicolai. “I’m very happy that Rasmus, his girlfriend and my girlfriend were around watching.”

“I really appreciate it because I haven’t been [able] with any of his wins to see him. I could only see him in the crowd. It really means a lot to me and it’s just a very special day.”

A strong finish to the 2021 season, runner-up at the Portugal Masters and T4 at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, saw him finish eighth on the Race to Dubai after just his second full season on Tour.

Nicolai won his second DP World Tour title at the 2022 Ras Al Khaimah Championship presented by Phoenix Capital at Al Hamra Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates. Hojgaard’s final round of 68 gave him a 24-under-par total for the tournament, four shots clear of England’s Jordan Smith who closed with a 66.

He represented Europe in The 2018 Junior Ryder Cup alongside his brother Rasmus. The Højgaard twins also helped Denmark to victory in the 2018 Eisenhower Trophy, alongside John Axelsen. He won the European Amateur at Royal Hague that same year, finishing one stroke ahead of a chasing pack which included Viktor Hovland.
