Johan Swanepoel is a South African professional golf caddie. Swanepoel, who is from Mossel Bay, has been a professional caddie since 2013. He has caddied for Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Pernilla Lindberg, Ashleigh Simon Buhai, Brandon Stone, Darren Fichardt, Lee-Ann Pace and Daniel Jae Hong Im.

Swanepoel also played golf. When he was 16 (Grade 10), Swanepoel was part of the SA junior golf team which played in Namibia and he won the Mossel Bay golf club championships when he was 16 and 17. An allrounder, Swanepoel also played rugby, cricket and first team hockey.

Swanepoel graduated from Point High School in Mossel Bay, South Africa. He has an M.B.A in Human Resources Management from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. Whilst there he briefly played for the men’s golf team. He played in four tournaments with his best finish coming at the Bearcat Invitational, where he shot 226 over three rounds.

When he completed his MBA, he moved back to South Africa and went straight to Leopard Creek. Purely by chance he got to caddie for Dawie van der Walt, who won the Nelson Mandela Invitational in Durban the very next week.

Swanepoel, who is also a professional tour operator, is the owner of On Point Tours, a tourism company that creates personalized trips to the most beautiful part of South Africa, the Garden Route.

Caddie Johan Swanepoel started caddying for Christiaan Bezuidenhout at the Masters Tournament at Augusta National (Georgia, United States) in November 2020. Bezuidenhout finished tied in 38th place at the Masters.

Swanepoel enjoyed a huge high point in his career on Sunday, 6 December 2020, when Christiaan Bezuidenhout, for whom he was caddying, won the South African Open Championship at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City.

Bezuidenhout’s five-shot win followed his victory a week before at the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek in Mpumalanga, where Swanepoel was also his caddie.
