Naga Munchetty is a British television presenter, newsreader, and journalist. She currently serves as a presenter on BBC Breakfast, the United Kingdom’s most popular breakfast news programme. Naga previously presented the BBC World News and BBC Two’s weekday financial affairs programme Working Lunch. She joined the BBC Working Lunch team in October 2008.
Born Subha Nagalakshmi Munchetty-Chendriah was born on February 25, 1975, in Streatham, South London, England. Naga attended Graveney School in Tooting, she went on to join the University of Leeds where she pursued English literature. After that Naga pursued a postgraduate degree in Newspaper Journalism, which led to her first jobs writing for the city pages at The Evening Standard and The Observer.
Naga’s started her television journalism career at Reuters Financial Television. She later worked at CNBC Europe, Channel 4 News, and Bloomberg Television. In March 2021, Naga ‘liked’ tweets mocking the British Union flag after an incident on the programme involving her co-presenter, Charlie Stayt, at the end of an interview. Naga apologized for any offence caused and stated that they were not the opinions of the BBC. Naga enjoys playing jazz trumpet and classical piano. She also plays golf. She won the Hertfordshire de Paula Cup at Bishop’s Stortford Golf Club, in October 2012.
