Katie Jarvis is an English actress. She is known for her roles as Mia Williams in Fish Tank (2009) and Hayley Slater in the BBC soap opera EastEnders (2018–2019). Her other film credits include Ginger (2015), Devil’s Play (2017), I Was 3 (2017), Two Graves (2018), and Let’s Talk About George (2020). Her television credits include 10 Minute Tales (2009), Suspects (2014), True Horror (2018), and EastEnders (2018–2019).

She was discovered when she was having a blazing row with Brian Hanlon, the boyfriend she’d had on and off since she was 13, across opposite platforms of Tilbury station in Essex. After she got off the train in Upminster, a woman who had followed her from Tilbury came running up to her, claiming to be a casting agent for director Andrea Arnold. That chance meeting with the casting agent won her the lead role in Andrea Arnold’s film, Fish Tank. She played headstrong 15-year-old Mia. The role earned her a best British performance award at the 2009 Edinburgh film festival. The film Fish Tank won the Jury Prize at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.

Jarvis joined EastEnders in February 2018, playing Hayley Slater, the cousin of Kat Moon [Jessie Wallace]. She was involved in a major storyline when it emerged she had had an affair with Kat’s husband Alfie Moon [Shane Richie] while they lived in Spain with Kat and their children. Hayley then fell pregnant, giving birth to daughter Cherry.

Jarvis’s character was last seen on screen in February 2019 when Stacey Fowler, played by Lacey Turner, went to the hospital to collect her after treatment for her mental health and alcohol issues. Hayley fled the centre, leaving her baby Cherry in the Slater family’s care.
