Madison Hughes is an American singer-songwriter, videographer and contestant on NBC’s The Voice. A Florida native, Hughes learned she could sing during her fifth-grade talent show, as she stood up in front of the whole school and nailed “Wild Thing,” earning a standing ovation. She signed up for guitar lessons with her dad shortly before that show and hasn’t stopped playing since.

Hughes was introduced to the folk/Americana genre after a summer with an inspiring camp counselor and a trip to the Newport Folk Festival on her 14th birthday. Her mom encouraged her to move to Nashville in 2022 to chase her dream of pursuing music.

Hughes attended Episcopal High School. She graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Digital Media Production. While at FSU, Hughes was a resident assistant at DeGraff Hall from August 2017 to May 2018 and Associate Producer for Seminole Sports Magazine from September 2018 to December 2018.

Singer Madison Hughes of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., is a contestant on Season 22 of NBC’s singing competition series “The Voice.” The Florida native performed Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” during The Voice Blind Auditions. She got three chair turns from Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and Camila Cabello. Coach John Legend didn’t turn around for the singer.

“I’m in a marriage sandwich,” Cabello joked before Shelton intervened, curious about which genre Hughes belonged to.

“I’m hoping that was a country version of that song,” Shelton said. “It sounded country coming out of your mouth.”

After Hughes confirmed she is “here for the twang,” Shelton got even more excited to have her on his team.

“This is the team that you belong to, Madison,” he insisted.

“I love your voice. I also love the fact that you are a little bit of a melting pot. I feel like that’s what I’ve done my entire career as well. I’ve always bounced in different genres the whole time, including having two number one hits with Blake Shelton on country radio. I’m so proud of that. So, it would be fun to work together. I think we would be a good match,” Stefani sid.

“I can help you through those nerves of performing live for people,” Cabello added.

Hughes picked Shelton as her coach for this season of The Voice.

She is very new to singing live. She had just started singing at open mics two months before her blind audition on “The Voice.”
