Laura Nolan is a professional ballroom dancer and choreographer from Dublin, Ireland. She is a former World Open and Irish Champion and an Ireland World PD Showdance Finalist. She is trained in ballroom, Latin, and ballet dancing.

Nolan began dancing at the age of 3 and started dancing competitively at the age of 5 when she competed in the All Ireland Championships in June 1999. She originally competed with her dance partner Luca Mastropietro with whom she reached the quarterfinals of their first championship at the All Ireland Championships.

From 2015 to 2019, she was partnering with Italian dancer, Alessandro Bosco. The couple finished in first place in the World Open Adult Standard at the Bacau Dance Open tournament in 2018. In 2018, they ranked 5th in the World Open. Nolan was a finalist in the German Open, becoming the first Irish dancer to compete in the World Championships. In 2019, Nolan and Alessandro Bosco announced their retirement from ballroom dancing. In 2021, Nolan appeared as a contestant in the celebrity version of the RTÉ program, Hell Week.

In November 2019, it was announced that professional dancer Laura Nolan would join the 4th series of Dancing with the Stars Ireland as a professional dancer. She made her debut partnered with television presenter and Big Brother winner Brian Dowling. They were eliminated in the 7th week of the competition, finishing in eighth place.

In 2022, Laura was paired with Love Island star Matthew MacNabb. They quickly became a fan favourite in the show and made it to the semi-final.

“He worked so hard and wanted to do it,” she said at the launch of the Kilkenny Design Christmas Shop. “We made the semi-final and on week one I honestly didn’t think we would because we were right down the bottom of the leaderboard. It was so good how well he came on.”

“It’s only after coming out yesterday that I said I was in a relationship and it was complicated. It was complicated because I came into this show in a relationship but I realised my focus and all my work was going into the show.

“So, it’s just been a bit of a mental week but we’ll go forward and keep going because that’s what it’s all about, just getting into the studio and working hard.

“We’re flat out. See, this is the thing with this show, so many hours go into it to try and train, you’re doing the dances on a weekly basis so every little second counts.

“And also when it comes to my life outside the show, it’s all about the show, it’s hard to balance other things. So, for me now, 100 per cent of my focus even in my personal life – which has slightly taken a hit – is all about the show now!”
