Ron Hall is a Financial advisor from Essex. The 25-year-old is a contestant on Love Island 2023. He was the second male islander confirmed for the series.

Speaking about his reasons for joining the show, Ron said: “I think it’s the best show to find love on. I’m now 25 and I had in my head that I’d be with someone, settled and married by say 27… it’s now coming awfully close to that.

“It’s now a good opportunity for me to force myself into that intense environment. I don’t use dating apps and texting, it’s forced. Being in there, chatting to someone 24/7 that suits me and my personality”, he added.

Ron revealed he didn’t apply for the ITV hit dating reality show, saying: “So funny story, last year two of my friends as a joke tried to fill up an application for me. I got an email through and I was like, ‘no boys, this isn’t happening!’ And then this year I got a call to basically come back again. So I answered the call and went with it. I thought why not, it’s about time.

“When I actually started thinking about it, it kind of was a perfect thing for me to do to give me that little push. I’m 25 now. I’ve been single for the past five years and I’ve enjoyed the single life. Working in the City – I just wanted my career, I wanted to make money and just graft.

“I never went to uni, I never travelled and for me Love Island is an experience as well as trying to settle down. I had it in my mind as a kid that I’d have everything sorted by like 27, so I think it’s about time I actually try and find a missus, settle down, get my life together.”

Love Island’s Ron Hall is blind in one eye following an injury sustained while playing football at the age of 8. He feels it has shaped him as a person “in a really good way” and being a “great conversation starter”.

“On meeting me, you’d never know I am blind in one eye,” he told press in a pre-villa chat. “It was the result of a football injury when I was 8; I went in for a header and got kicked in the face.”

Ron also added that he has “two different coloured eyes, one blue and one green” and said it has “added to my character, there are so many people that are worse off than me”.

He continued on to reflect about the football match that changed his life, saying that it’s made him more appreciate of his health and all of the good things in his life. “If anything, losing something like that makes you realise that. It’s not hindered me in any shape or form. It’s a good conversation starter I must admit.”

He also revealed how he was cruelly bullied over it. “I remember when I came back to the school for the first time I had to wear a patch and there’d be some people trying to be clever, trying to be funny,” he said. “They’d call you or pirate, popeye, the blind… whatever. Like my nickname when I was a kid was Ron One Eye.”
