Ural Glanville is a Judge of the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia and the chief judge of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. He was sworn in as the Chief Judge on December 1, 2022. The Chief Judge is responsible for the administration of the court. He has served on the Superior Court of Fulton County bench since 2005. He formerly served as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney and civil litigator.
Glanville served on the magistrate court of Fulton County from 1995 to 2004. In 2004, after eight years as a Magistrate, he became a Superior Court Judge in Fulton County, Georgia’s busiest trial court of general jurisdiction. His duties include the trial of cases involving felony offenses, divorce, equity and cases regarding title to land. His responsibility also includes presiding over administrative appeals and jury trials.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Georgia in 1984 and a juris doctor, also from UGA, in 1987. He earned a master’s in strategic studies at the U.S. Army War College in 2008.
He has also served in private practice; as an adjunct professor at the Georgia State University School of Law; a senior trial prosecutor in the DeKalb County’s Solicitor’s Office; a defense attorney in the U.S. Army; and a probation officer in the Georgia Department of Corrections in Fulton County.

After completing his Juris Doctor Degree, he served on active duty from 1990-1993. The year 2000 saw him serve as the Command Judge Advocate for the 359th Signal Brigade before being selected by The Judge Advocate General for the United States Army to serve as the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) for the 335th Signal Command. As the 335th SJA, he deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. After his deployment, TJAG selected BG Glanville for command of the 213th LOD.
Before being selected to be Chief Judge, BG Glanville was the Commanding General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Rule of Law Support Mission/Rule of Law Field Force-Afghanistan.
