Rebecca Grossman Trial

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Joseph Brandolino is overseeing the trial of Rebecca Grossman. The Los Angeles socialite is accused of driving her Mercedes SUV at 81mph and killing brothers Jacob, 8, and Mark Iskander, 11, in 2020.

Rebecca, 60, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death in connection with the fatal Sept. 29, 2020 collision.

She has pleaded not guilty, and her legal team, led by defense attorney Tony Buzbee, says the evidence will show she wasn’t speeding and another vehicle struck the boys. Rebecca was driving behind Scott Erickson, a former Dodgers player, who earlier in the day had been drinking cocktails with Grossman at a nearby restaurant, sheriff’s investigators testified during a preliminary hearing in 2022, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Prosecutors say Rebecca and Erickson, 55, were driving from Julio’s restaurant to a Westlake lakeside home that evening in separate SUVs, but traveling close together, when they “raced” through the marked crosswalk on Triunfo Canyon Road at Saddle Mountain Drive, with Erickson in the lead.

Erickson was charged with a misdemeanor. His case was resolved in February 2022, with a judge ordering him to make a public service announcement geared toward high school students about the importance of safe driving.

Rebecca is free on a $2 million bond. She was ordered to stand trial in May 2022 by Superior Court Judge Shellie Samuels, with Brandolino subsequently denying a defense motion to dismiss the murder charges. If convicted of all charges, she could face up to 34 years to life in prison.

Rebecca is the wife of the prominent surgeon Dr Peter Grossman, who is the director of the Grossman Burn Centers and the son of the center’s late founder, A. Richard Grossman. She is a co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation and a former publisher of Westlake Magazine.
