Tony Buzbee is an American trial attorney and politician. He is an attorney in private practice at the Buzbee Law Firm in Houston, Texas, which he founded. He is a nationally recognized and sought-after attorney, described by The New York Times Magazine as “one of the most successful trial lawyers in the country.”

Buzbee was born to a butcher and a high school cafeteria worker. He grew up in Atlanta, Texas with his parents and three siblings. He then attended Texas A&M University on an ROTC scholarship, earning his bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

While in college, he served as a Battalion Commander in the Corps of Cadets. Upon graduation, Buzbee was named a Distinguished Student and a Distinguished Naval Graduate. He was also recognized as the Outstanding NROTC Senior in the Corps of Cadets, as well as the Outstanding Commander in the Corps of Cadets.

Buzbee served in the United States Marine Corps in the Persian Gulf and Somalian conflicts. He earned the rank of Captain and received many awards, including the prestigious Navy Commendation Medal. After leaving the Marine Corps, he received his law degree summa cum laude at the University of Houston Law Center.

After graduation, Buzbee was selected to serve as a briefing attorney for a federal district judge in the Southern District of Texas, Galveston Division. Upon completing that assignment, he was hired by one of the most prestigious litigation boutiques in the country. He then founded his own firm, the Buzbee Law Firm.
