Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo is a Judge of the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles. She is currently assigned to complex criminal/high security/long cause criminal court. She was appointed to the bench by former governor of California Gray Davis (Democratic Party) in 2002.

Judge Olmedo attended the Mirman School in Los Angeles from 1977-1979. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in 1989.

Judge Olmedo joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office in 1989 as a deputy district attorney in the Hardcore Gang Unit. She left the D.A.’s office in 1994 to become a prosecutor for the U.S. Justice Department.

Prior to her appointment to the Superior Court in 2002, Olmedo had been practicing as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. During her time with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Olmedo worked on the Organized Crime Strike Force.
