Louis L. Stanton is a senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He assumed office on October 1, 1996. He previously served as a Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York from July 18, 1985 to October 1, 1996.

He was appointed in 1985 by President Ronald Reagan (Republican) to a seat on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York vacated by Judge Henry Frederick Werker. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on July 16, 1985, and received commission on July 18, 1985. He assumed senior status on October 1, 1996.

Stanton was a United States Merchant Marine Academy Cadet Midshipman from 1945 to 1947. He was a United States Marine Corps Reserve First Lieutenant from 1950 to 1952.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1950. He received a Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1955. He was in private practice of law in New York City from 1955 to 1985.
