Jeremy Bulloch was an English actor who starred as bounty hunter Boba Fett in the original “Star Wars” trilogy. He played the mysterious Boba Fett in 1980’s “The Empire Strikes Back” and 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.” He took on the role of Boba Fett in 1978 while he was starring in the television comedy series “Agony.” He had previously starred in the BBC soap opera “The Newcomers.”
Born in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, England in 1945, Bulloch began acting in 1958 with commercials. At age 17 he starred in “Summer Holiday,” alongside Cliff Richard. His other credits included the James Bond movie “Octopussy” and the TV series “Doctor Who,” “Robin of Sherwood.” He also had a cameo in 2005’s “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.”
On August 13, 2018, Bulloch announced his decision to “stop attending conventions and hang up the Fett helmet.” He said in a statement on his personal site: “It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to stop attending conventions and hang up the Fett helmet. It has not been an easy decision to make. In 1979 I was called onto the set of Empire Strikes Back to play Boba Fett, and since that day it has changed the entire direction of my life in such a wonderful way. It has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to inspire so many generations of Star Wars fans. I have had over 20 years of travelling with my wife Maureen to some amazing countries and have met so many wonderful fans. Thank you all so much and we will miss you all. ‘May the Force be with you always’.”

Jeremy Bulloch died on 17 December 2020 at St George’s Hospital in Tooting. His death was announced in a statement by his agents at Brown, Simcocks & Andrews. His representatives said in the following statement: “We are very sad to announce the death of actor Jeremy Bulloch, earlier today. He died peacefully, in hospital, surrounded by his family, from health complications following his many years living with Parkinson’s disease. Jeremy was best known for the role of Boba Fett in the original Star Wars trilogy. He had a long and happy career spanning more than 45 years. He was devoted to his wife, three sons, and ten grandchildren and they will miss him terribly.”
According to Jeremy Bulloch’s personal website, he “died peacefully on 17th December 2020 following health complications, including several years living with Parkinson’s disease. He spent his final weeks in the wonderful care of the staff at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, close to the house where he and his wife Maureen had lived together for more than fifty years. Maureen and two of his sons, Jamie and Robbie, were with him during his final days.”
Daniel Logan, who portrayed a young version of Boba Fett in the 2002 prequel “Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones,” paid tribute to Bulloch in an Instagram post. Logan wrote: “It brings me to tears to announce Jeremy Bulloch has passed away.!! Rip legend I’ll never forget all you’ve taught me.!! I’ll love you forever.!! Conventions won’t be the same without you may the force be with you always.”
The Star Wars said in a statement on Twitter: “Jeremy Bulloch, whose unforgettable performance as notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett has captivated audiences since he first appeared in 1980’s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, has sadly passed away. He will be remembered not only for his iconic portrayal of the legendary character, but also for his warmth and generous spirit which have become an enduring part of his rich legacy.”
