Emiliano Grillo Biography – Emiliano Grillo Wiki
Emiliano Grillo is an Argentine professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Grillo won his maiden PGA Tour title at the 2015 Frys.com Open at Silverado Country Club in Napa Valley, California.
Grillo attended the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He turned professional in 2011 and earned playing status on the European Tour via Qualifying School. In February 2014, he finished runner-up behind Stephen Gallacher at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour.
He secured his PGA Tour card by winning the Web.com Tour Championship in 2015. He made the Web.com Tour finals despite playing a limited number of PGA Tour and Web.com events. It was a tie for second at the 2015 Puerto Rico Open that basically got him into that four-tournament series.
In October 2015, Grillo earned his maiden PGA Tour title after beating Kevin Na at the second play-off hole at the Frys.com Open in California. He nailed a 25-foot putt on the final green to post a three-under 69 and take the clubhouse lead on 15 under, and Na matched him with a neat pitch to six feet setting up the birdie he needed to force extra holes.
It ended when Grillo’s birdie on the second extra hole dropped to claim the opening tournament of the 2015/16 PGA Tour season and a cheque for $1,080,000.
Grillo and Na finished a shot ahead of Tyrone Van Aswegen, Justin Thomas and Jason Bohn, while Justin Rose was a further two strokes adrift on 12 under after a mixed-bag of a 72 on the final day.
