Chris Beath is an Australian football referee. He has been an Australian A-League football referee since 2008 and FIFA and AFC international referee since 2011. His refereeing career highlights include selection for the U17 FIFA World Cup 2019, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 VAR, AFC Asian Cup 2019, AFC Asian Cup 2015 and his appointment to referee the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup Final in 2014. In June 2021, he was named A-League referee of the Year for the second year in a row.

In May 2019, Australian referee Chris Beath was appointed as a video match official for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 in France from 7 June – 7 July. He joined fellow Australian Referees Kate Jacewicz and Casey Reibelt were selected as part of the contingent of 90 match officials for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Following official confirmation of his appointment for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, Chris was honoured to be considered as one of two representatives from the AFC as a video match official.

“I’m very proud and humbled to have been selected as one of the VAR’s for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. I’m looking forward to working with some of the best Referees in the World, including our own world-class Referees – Kate and Casey,” Beath said in a statement.

“I’m also very thankful to the Hyundai A-League and the FFA Referees Department for making the decision many years ago to be the first domestic competition in the world to implement VAR. This has put Australian referees in a great position in the current football environment.”
