AJ Pritchard full name Alex Joseph Pritchard, is a British dancer and choreographer. He was born on 5 November 1994 in Stoke-on-Trent, England, United Kingdom.
AJ started dancing competitively at the age of 12. Despite having been raised in a dance studio, AJ was passionate about Extreme Sports such as snowboarding and mountain boarding. It was a broken arm that made him turn to dancing. His parents partnered him with Chloe Hewitt from their dance school.
AJ and Chloe won the National Youth Latin Championships for three consecutive years in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2015, they became the British Open Youth Latin Champions and the European Youth Latin Champions.
In 2013, Pritchard and Chloe Hewitt auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent, receiving acclaim from the judges and audience. They reached the live semi-finals.
In 2016 Pritchard appeared on Strictly Come Dancing for its fourteenth series. He was partnered with Olympic artistic gymnast Claudia Fragapane. They finished in 4th place overall. In 2017, he returned to Strictly and was partnered with Mollie King, a singer and former member of girl group The Saturdays. They finished in 5th place overall. In 2018, he was partnered with British Paralympic athlete Lauren Steadman. They finished in 5th place.

He has hinted at possible romance with his Strictly partner Lauren Steadman. He told The Mirror: “I’m very protective of Lauren because we worked so close together. There are different things that she will talk about in training that she would never talk about on camera. It’s for that reason that we have grown so close together and we will be friends for life and who knows in the future. You never know what’s going to happen.”
