Yu Liu is a Chinese professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. She started playing golf at the age of 9 years old. She graduated from Beijing No. 80 in Beijing, China. As an amateur, Liu was a three-time winner on the AJGA circuit and was in the 2011 Second Team Rolex Junior All-America. Liu finished 1st at the 2012 Chongqing Challenge, after firing rounds of 72, 68, and 71, and was a runner-up at the 2012 CLPGA Srixon Ladies Open and the CLPGA China Unicom professional–amateur.
She attended the Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she played collegiate golf. While there she was the ACC Rookie of the Year, she also won at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and earned victory at the 2013-14 national championship with Duke University. Liu turned professional in 2015 and played on the Symetra Tour, where she earned victory at the Tullymore Classic. In 2017, Liu finished 5th on the Symetra Tour money list to earn LPGA membership for the 2018 season.
During her rookie year 2018, she played 27 events and made 21 cuts, Liu recorded three top-10 finishes including a career-best major finish of T7 at the Ricoh Women’s British Open. In 2019, Liu played 28 events and made 26 cuts, she recorded a career-best 7 top-10 finishes, including at the U.S. Women’s Open (T5) and the AIG Women’s British Open (T7). In 2020, she played 17 events and made 12 cuts, she also recorded 2 top-10 finishes including a season-best T4 result at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open.
