Yadires Nova-Salcedo is an American Emmy noinated journalist, television host,and producer who works as the host and producer of “Centro,” a special news segment that airs on WBZ-TV Saturdays 7:50 AM. The program “Centro” examines issues of importance to the Latino community including current events, education, politics, and entertainment. She became part of WBZ-TV in January 1996. She started her career in television at WCVB-TV in Boston while still a student in middle school. Her many varied roles throughout her tenure at WCVB included working as a production assistant on “Good Day” in 1990 and as an on-air spokesperson for Hispanic audiences for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.
After graduating from Emerson College in Boston, she joined WUNI-TV in Needham, Massachusetts, an affiliate of the Spanish language television network Univision, where she was the news director, producer, editor, and lead anchor from 1993 to 1995. She has worked on many different boards, that include the Board of Governors of the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Television Academy (NATAS) and is a member of the Latino Professional Network as well as the New England Ad Club. She also plays a very active role in the Latino community by speaking at schools and emceeing charitable events throughout New England.
On top of the positionshe holds at WBZ-TV, she is the executive producer and director of “Encuentro Latino,” a weekly one-hour long, Spanish language television show with local, national and international coverage. TTogether with her husband, they are owners of the New Vision Productions Corporation, which produces their show “Encuentro Latino” and many other production projects.
She is a recipient of numerous awards for her work with charitable and non-profit organizations, including La Alianza Hispana’s “Women of Courage” Award and has been recognized every year on El Planeta’s “Powermeter – 100 Most Influential People in Massachusetts”, since its inception 8 years ago.
She graduated from Emerson College in Boston in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism.
