Vicki Reid is a contestant on The Great British Sewing Bee 2023. She is an amateur sewer and a police dispatcher in Lincolnshire. Sewing has given Vicki an escape and release from what can be a stressful job.
According to the BBC, Vicki’s love for sewing began as a child when her gran taught her to thread a machine and sew a straight line. It took off from there to the point where she attempted to make her own wedding dress.
After she became pregnant she started sewing in earnest, and when the children were born they got handmade outfits too. Vicki and her husband love going to festivals, and at the 2022 Glastonbury she made the whole family matching outfits.
Sewing has helped Vicki to dress how she would like to. She is a great advocate of body positivity and believes sewing has enabled her to express that one size does not fit all.
Vicki also loves knitting, crocheting, reading, drawing, and painting and she recently created a huge mural on her son’s bedroom wall.

I’ve been absolutely blown away by the response, I really wasn’t expecting it.
