Stoney Westmoreland was arrested in Salt Lake City on December 14, 2018 after asking a 13-year-old he met via an online dating app to engage in sexual acts and to send him naked pictures in exchange for him sending his own naked photos.
According to investigators, Westmoreland also intended on picking up the minor to bring to his hotel room ‘in order to engage in sexual activity’.
Westmoreland was taken into custody by Salt Lake City police and FBI Child Exploitation Task Force. He faces one count of enticing a minor and four counts of dealing materials harmful to a minor.
Westmoreland was charged on December 21, 2018 with enticing a minor, attempted exploitation of a minor and four counts of dealing in material harmful to a minor by an adult.
A $100,000 warrant was issued for Westmoreland and a public safety assessment filed with the court found he was a low risk to public safety.
