Sophie Taylor Future Food Stars

Sophie Taylor was a contestant on the second series of Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars on BBC One. She was amongst 12 food and drink entrepreneurs competing to win a £150,000 business investment from TV chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay.

She revealed the news on Instagram, writing, “I can finally reveal that I am one of Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars. Tune in to see how my IBS symptoms affected me during filming.”

“I wanted to take part in the show to have the opportunity to learn from Gordon Ramsay and develop my business,” she said at the time.

Sophie was the first contestant to be fired after a health condition that was undiagnosed at the time meant she would have been unable to go on any further in the competition. During filming, she had been forced to see medics and seek help after suffering from intense pain, which she later realised was irritable bowel syndrome, a condition that can cause stomach cramps, bloating and nausea amongst its symptoms.

The first season of the BBC One competition saw Victoria Omobuwajo take home the win, after weeks of brutal tasks from diving down into the depths of caves to delivering food on a high-wire suspended 1,000ft above the ground.

Sophie Taylor Illness

In 2022, Sophie Taylor was diagnosed with severe Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a long-term condition of the digestive system. IBS symptoms include cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation, or both.

“Ever since June 2022 I have been suffering with IBS/ irritable bowel syndrome,” Sophie wrote.

Sophie has now become an ambassador for the IBS Network, the UKs biggest and leading IBS charity that has been running for over 40 years – and has been working with them regularly to raise awareness and normalise IBS, especially amongst women.
