Shaun Leane is a British jewellery designer and founder of the eponymous label Shaun Leane jewellery. His eponymous jewellery brand is a four-time winner of the UK Jewellery Designer of the Year award.

The Shaun Leane jewellery house was born at the bench in London’s jewellery quarter, Hatton Garden. Leane trained in a traditional apprenticeship from the age of fifteen, learning diamond mounting and antique restoration in an environment where skill was paramount and perfection the standard.

Leane’s unwavering commitment to break with entrenched traditions, play with conventions and bring a fresh dynamic to exquisitely crafted fine jewellery has led to esteemed collaborations including his longstanding partnership with Lee Alexander McQueen.

British jeweller Shaun Leane was behind the ring for the engagement of Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Princess Beatrice.

“The bespoke experience was a beautiful journey; from imagining the design with Edoardo to the crafting of the finished rings,” Leane told Tatler. “To be able to incorporate both Edoardo and Princess Beatrice’s characters into the design has resulted in a unique ring that represents their love and lives entwining.”

Jeweller Shaun Leane is a judge on All That Glitters: Britain’s Next Jewellery Star. In August 2022, Shaun Leane returned as a judge for series two of All That Glitters: Britain’s Next Jewellery Star on BBC Two. On his return, he said: “The first series was amazing. I mean, what an experience. In short, it was very inspiring. It reminded me of the wonderful industry that I work in, and of my beginnings when I was exploring my craft, design and handwriting. To be part of that series and to help those jewellers to achieve, explore and evolve was really inspiring for me.

“Walking into the workshop for series two I was energised, because not only did I know my role was as a judge, but also as a mentor to share my knowledge and experience. I was really interested to see how they would interpret our challenges, because they were even more diverse than series one.

“I was looking for innovation in their craft and design, and looking for storytelling within their pieces that reflect who they are – and my goodness we got some amazing concepts and storytelling through the pieces of jewellery.”

On the jewellers taking part in series two, he said: “The jewellers were so diverse and different. They were full of life and excitement and all brought something totally different. It was so lovely, I really feel in this series I saw storytelling and these jewellers were not afraid to put a lot of their character into the jewels, which was inspiring for me and created an array of very interesting jewellery. I feel like their characters really illuminate this series.”
