Samantha Steenwijk is a Dutch singer who became famous for her participation in Blood, Sweat & Tears (2013) and The Voice of Holland (2017-2018). At 16, she entered a talent show that her mother had registered her for. Her win made her decide to try as a singer. During the day, she worked in a fishmonger’s shop, in the evenings she spent five years touring the cafes in The Hague to perform. Her first single, Come join me was produced at Fendal Sound Studios. A few years later, under the producer duo Fluitsma & Van Tijn, the single Always, always was released. Her subsequent singles Love me and Lieveling, what do I love you (31-10-14) were released. The latter single achieved first place in the Dutch Top 20 of the TROS. In December 2014, the song was in the Top 10 of the Norwegian chart for three weeks. For Rob Stenders’ new daily afternoon show on NPO Radio 2, Steenwijk wrote the jingle in January 2016, derived from her single Cheers to life.

In 2017 Steenwijk was a guest artist on stage during the Halftime Show of Toppers in Concert in the Amsterdam Arena. She also sang the song They Don’t Play Our Lovesong Anymore, a duet with Anita Meyer, for the first time during the Muziekfeest van het Jaar in the Ziggo Dome. In 2018, 2019 and 2020 Steenwijk was on stage during Holland Zingt Hazes in the Ziggo Dome. On March 8, 2019, she released a duet together with Rene Froger, entitled Love forever. A few days after its release, the single reached the number 1 position in the Dutch iTunes Chart. The proceeds of the song went to the foundation ‘Het Vergeten Kind’.At the end of 2019, she recorded the single Ik ben een Kerstbal together with Chantal Janzen. Steenwijk reached the final of Blood, Sweat & Tears, the talent show of SBS6. During the program, she recorded the song Zonder you (31-05-2013). The single was produced by Eric van Tijn and written by Han Kooreneef, and reached the eighth spot in the Dutch Top 100. In 2017 Steenwijk participated in the eighth season of the RTL 4 program The Voice of Holland. During the blind audition, all the coaches turned around for her and she chose Anouk. She dropped out of the battles but was stolen by Miss Montreal and she was her new coach from then on. Two days after the broadcast, Steenwijk’s audition number I live my own life reached number 1 in the Dutch iTunes Charts. In the end, she reached the final and finished in second place. Steenwijk appeared in the AVROTROS singing program Beste Zangers from August to October 2019. The Songs She Sang Were It Doesn’t Matter – Mi Manchi (Episode 1), Without You (Episode 3), I’m Always Close to You (Episode 4), That I’m Waiting for You (Episode 5), Believe in Yourself (Episode 6), Just The Way I Do (episode 7), Cose Della Vita (episode 8, a duet with Tim Akkerman ), and No Me Ames (episode 8, a duet with Rolf Sanchez). During episode 2, which was devoted to Steenwijk’s life and career, Floor Jansen performed the song Mama, Emma Heesters the song Love Forever, and Ruben Annink the song Go door, all original songs by Steenwijk. In 2020 she was nominated for a Gouden Televizierring with her participation in the Best Singers program. In the same period as Beste Zangers, she could be seen as a participant in the RTL 4 dance program Dancing With The Stars.
