Ruby Leigh Biography – Ruby Leigh Wiki
Ruby Leigh is a 16-year-old singer from Foley, Missouri, a small town of about 150 people. She is one of the top five finalists of the NBC singing competition ‘The Voice.’.
At just 4, Ruby and her parents survived a horrific tornado that nearly killed her parents. From that day on, Ruby struggled to be apart from them and she opted for homeschooling to stay close. At the age of 9, she discovered her love of country music when she overheard her dad listening to Guy Clark’s “Dublin Blues.” Determined to learn the song, she had it memorized the next day.
“Me and my wife were driving home silent, and stunned,” Leigh’s father, Casey Pearson, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “I turned to my wife and said it’s obvious Ruby has more talent than we realized or knew. We would be the biggest idiots if we didn’t give her every opportunity, get her out there to different venues and places, do as much as we can afford.”
Her first competition was put on by St. Louis Cardinals player Adam Wainwright, according to her official NBC biography. She came in third place and has been hooked on a music career ever since. By the time she was 11, she won in the country and gospel categories of the World Championships of Performing Arts competition.
Ruby is an accomplished aspiring country star and has performed with Vince Gill, the Time Jumpers, Mickey Gilley and Johnny Lee as well as doing pre-shows for Clint Black and Tracy Lawrence. She also had the chance to sing on stage at a Lorrie Morgan concert.
