Romain Langasque Biography – Romain Langasque Wiki

Romain Langasque is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He claimed his maiden European Tour title at the 2020 ISPS HANDA Wales Open at The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. He finished at eight under, two shots clear of Finn Sami Välimäki, who carded a 69. English duo David Dixon and Matthew Jordan finished at five under, a shot clear of countrymen Laurie Canter and James Morrison, and Swede Sebastian Soderberg.

The victory earned him a place at the U.S. Open Championship via the top ten of the UK Swing Order of Merit, with Välimäki, Connor Syme and Justin Harding also securing their places at Winged Foot Golf Club alongside Sam Horsfield, Thomas Detry, Andy Sullivan, Rasmus Højgaard, Renato Paratore and Adrian Otaegui.

Langasque won the Hopps Open de Provence in 2018 on the European Challenge Tour, the same season he regained his card at the Qualifying School, and had a second and two thirds to finish 24th on the 2019 Race to Dubai.

Langasque announced his arrival on the European Challenge Tour with a runner-up finish in the 2016 season-opener, the Barclays Kenya Open, while playing as an amateur.

The young Frenchman then became the first active Challenge Tour player to tee it up at the Masters Tournament after winning the 2015 Amateur Championship at Carnoustie. He went on to shoot 31 in his final nine holes to tie the record for the lowest back nine score by an amateur in Masters history.

An outstanding maiden Challenge Tour season saw him finish runner-up three times and notch up three further top fives as he ultimately finished ninth in the Rankings.

He returned to the Challenge Tour in 2018 where he won his first title as a professional on home soil at the Hopps Open de Provence and went on to regain his European Tour card by finishing inside the top 25 at Final Stage. He earned a maiden European Tour title at the ISPS Handa Wales Open in 2020, overturning a five-stroke deficit in the final round.
