Reid Hamer-Jackson is a Canadian businessman and mayor-elect of Kamloops. He will succeed Ken Christian, who opted not to stand for re-election. Christian had served as the city’s mayor since winning a by-election in 2017.

Hamer-Jackson was elected mayor of Kamloops on October 15, 2022. He defeated former councillors Dieter Dudy, Sadie Hunter and Arjun Singh, and former councillor Ray Dhaliwal. He garnered 7,298 votes (31.6% of the ballots cast), followed by Dudy (24.4% per cent), Hunter (19.8% per cent), Singh (12.7% per cent) and Dhaliwal (11.3% per cent).

Hamer-Jackson, who has not been involved in politics in the past, decided to put his name in the 2022 Mayoral race due to “the current state of lack of government oversight and accountability combined with a deterioration in community safety,” according to his biography on his campaign website.

Hamer-Jackson is the owner of TRU Market Truck and Auto Sales, an independent auto dealer based in Kamloops, BC. He has lived in the Tournament Capital since 1973 and has owned Tru Market Truck and Auto Sales on West Victoria Street since 1994.

An avid community volunteer and contributor, Hamer-Jackson is a member of the Performing Arts Center Society and is a sponsor of local arts and recreation. He holds the title of father, husband, uncle, business owner, and lifelong community member.
